Mikita invented the battery powered drill in 1969, then went on to introduce the first rechargeable ni-cad, nickel hydride and first lithion ion !
They are by far the market leaders in terms of sales.
hilti is a bit like an iphone, a well known brand that charges twice as much as everyone else for a product that is certainly not the best..

you posted too quick for me to get my reply in...
It is a hard call on what brand is superior as we can all find vids where each brand fails miserably, and also blows the others away !
Low volume manufacture means higher cost per unit.
High volume production hugely reduces cost, so the much more expensive certainly does not always mean better quality.

I've used (and abused) both brands over the years but have never done back to back comparisons of identical tool types. I'm not going to get into an argument over the technology and who's leading who because I've never looked into it. If I was buying professional woodworking/general building tools I'd happily stock my workshop with makita tools. If I was working in industrial construction/steelwork then I'd be looking at the hilti stuff. Just my opinion from having worked in both industries.rappey wrote: sry, 11/60, my message was aimed at ollieNZ and his claim of hilti lasting longer and better quality than the rest ? lol

What brand is yours?
It's a Silverline, It is a bit longer than my airline one but slimmer. It weighs much the same - might be a bit heavier. Being electric it has a variable speed trigger. I tend to use it a lot. Just plug in and go In a similar vein I use a normal mains electric drill for screwdriver work.

They're just a bit out of date, albeit their cheap price reflects this.
When new they perform well though.

If it helps my suggestion is that as you have an air one and if you can live with a slightly bigger one then get on eBay etc. and just buy the cheapest electric. It is basically what I did and I never regretted it.ZukracerV6 wrote: Thanks for the input guys! Decision, decision, decision!
