Crowborough Byways. was created by 1066Boy
Heading over to Crowborough on sunday to A: test the new tyres and B: try to find what's open and if they are as good as my crap memory remembers . Not done them for about 5 years as I have been busy with competitions. Going out around Ashford has rekindled my love of byways. :)
Have found 13 Byways, now just have to find away to link them together. :)

Beware of the byway that goes between Blackdon Hill and Redgate Mill lane as it is virtually impassible to 4x4s. My friend and I learned that the hard way 2 or 3 years ago when we both got bogged down in the deep ruts right near the entrance on Blackdon Hill. This was on a Sunday afternoon and we had to leave the cars there overnight until we could find a kind logger the following day to drag us out with his Hilux.

When we abandoned our Jimnys we walked the rest of the byway to find that it gets much more challenging - even if you could get through it you'd probably do quite a lot of damage to your car. Unless there have been some drastic changes since.

Of course it's up to you but I thought I would warn you :)

A sadistic part of me wants to try it now

Could I drag myself through with a winch?

I don't know for sure, but I doubt it. Here's someone doing it on a bike. He's starting on the opposite end to where we got stuck.

If you do try it out, take a camera :)

Thanks for the heads up Gary. It is number 10 on my proposed route, planning to drive it Redgate Mill Farm to Blackdon Hill direction.
If its not tough its no fun right? I will approach with your warning in mind, have a look and if its silly come up with another route. ;)

Both our Jimnys are standard but I see yours has a lift and some armour so good luck to you if you decide to try it. And let me know how it goes!
