Hi Fozzie, that's a nice looking Jimny all in black.
Unfortunately with most used cars you inherit an issue, but luckily for you have a warranty! Mine had transmission oil leak and needed the gearbox rebuilding later on. Good luck with getting it sorted.

Latest news.
The wheel... No chance, I was told to put it on as a spare!
The thrust bearing... It had been adjusted incorrectly. A very kind tech called Andy adjusted it while I waited.
The offside kingpin... A very good chance of Suzuki paying for the repair. I have to wait for the dealer to contact me. Andy (the tech) agreed with me that the KP hadn't just gone.
Jim. I feel your pain with the gearbox. My last Jimny had the same

Well that's sort of a good outcome
Good of them to adjust the bearing while you was there - bit rare these days

It was nice of them, as he gave me about 20 minutes of his time without charging me for it.
When I test drove the car, I mentioned that the clutch bite point was low. It appears the sellers adjusted the clutch cable too much, which led to me being able to feel and hear any vibration etc from the clutch and thrust bearing.
Love the car though. Looks much better with the grabbers on. More "Tonka" alike

For anyone who might be remotely interested.
The kingpin problem is turning into a bit of a farce. My local Suzuki dealer has priced the job at £270 to replace the bearings, kingpins, oil seal and the dust seal. The Suzuki warrantee department want a copy of the inspection report and job card from the Suzuki dealer that sold me the car before they will authorise the repair. Apparently they don't like to pay out until you have had the car at least a month, so they want proof that the sellers actually carried out the inspection. None of the dealers or Suzuki want to talk to each other, cos it's a poxy little job that the dealers can't make a lot of money out of and Suzuki don't want to pay out
This doesn't really help me, I just want it fixed. The sellers are a two and a half hour round trip away, my local dealer is a 45minute round trip. The warrantee allows me to get the repair done at any Suzuki repair shop, but they are stalling.
I'll end up doing it myself.

It might come to that, but I'll wait a little longer.
I phoned the sellers late yesterday afternoon and they confirmed that they had received a request for the inspection info required. I was told they would send it this morning after the owner/Director (who wasn't in yesterday) had approved it.
I really didn't expect this hassle, but I understand the reluctance of Suzuki to pay for something that has failed within 250 miles and 2 weeks of issuing the warrantee. It is only a kingpin bearing, but surely they don't just go suddenly. Not to the extent of a 10mm rocking movement when you push/pull the wheel from the top and bottom.

Thank you 11/60
I'm sure I will. Even if I have to take it back from where I bought it, or do the job myself.
Still like the car though. It's only 5 years old and very clean underneath and won't pose much of a problem to undo any bolts. I stripped the brakes on the first weekend I had it home and it came apart like it was new

Result at last
The sellers don't use the Suzuki approved inspection forms, so the Suzuki warrantee dept wouldn't pay out but the sellers spoke to Worthing Suzuki and agreed to pay them for the work to be done
My Jim is booked in at Worhing Suzuki next Friday afternoon to have the repairs done whilst I wait.

Having serious trust issues with main dealers, if you can't actually watch them repair it check that it seems to have a new swivel dust seal and that the visible parts of the actual kingpins that bolt the bearings in place are also shiny and new. Reason being that the quote for 200 odd quid is for the whole set of new seals, pins, bearings, retainers the lot. I know it's not your money but you don't just want a pair of new bearings and someone pocketing the rest. Like i say i have trust issues, especially with warranty work.
