Hello everyone
I've joined up as I'm looking to replace our daily drive Nissan micra with a Suzuki jimmy.
The local country lanes are slowly killing the micra so a jimmy should be a better vehicle.
Forewarned is forearmed so Im going to be looking into what the common problems are where they rot and what's the best engine etc to look for.
My budget is tight at £2000-£2500
And once I've spent that I won't have that sort of cash again
So I need to buy once and buy right.
I'm near masham in North Yorkshire if there are any local members near by.

Hello and welcome. The is plenty of info on here as what to look out for.
Your budget should get something nice. That's what I paid for mine.

Thanks for the welcomes
I've had a few reads of the buying guide and a good read around the tech and build sections.
It looks like I'll be after a 2000-2005 model
So I get the timing chain engine and manual rather than electronic 4wd selection
What year did the tax band become lower on jimnys?

So I'm of to view a jimmy tomorrow
I've spent a lot of time reading round the forum
Now I'm aware of all the usual places they rot
The different engines and common jimmy problems
One thing I need to ask is
Where is the vin number located and where is the engine number on the twin cam non vvt engines

You'll be wanting the early 2001 model.....£145 ish tax
Could be single or twin cam.....I got the twin cam M13A with slightly more power.
The VIN is on the chassis and in the windscreen....no idea where the engine number is.....could look on the wife's G16 and see if it's needed.

It's also plated just behind the battery. Can't remember if this has the engine number though, probably just the VIN
Presumably engine number will be stamped on the block somewhere?

Good choice in colour by the way. Every good sports car deserves a red coat!
