Byways in Kent was created by 1066Boy
After a run out yesterday I was a little disappointed to find a lot of the byways have TRO's on them.
The council has fitted metal bollard's with a combination padlock. Anybody local to this area know if this is
just for the Oct - April period or more permanent? Also I understand the is a permit system. Is this for summer
use or can you use them at anytime with a permit? Regards Allan.

Hi Allan, if you were out and about near Crundale those byways are seasonally closed each year so will be open again in April. I was out cycling them earlier in the week but haven't ever driven them so looking forward to the spring. If it was further west that you were or down near Ruckinge I know there are a couple of byways that do have permanent TROs on them. There is a PDF you can download here... www.kent.gov.uk/waste-planning-and-land/...rictions-and-permits
I hope that helps. Ben

Hi Benn. Crundale was my starting point. The last time I did them was about 8 years ago. I found my old maps
and I still have the route to link about 5 of them together into one long route so a little disappointed to find them closed.
If its only a winter closure to protect them and they open for all in the summer, fair play to the council. :)
Had lunch at the White horse in Chilham to compensate, then did the lanes to the west of Chilham and finished
with a nice long run along the Pilgrims Way. Got back off at Harrietsham and headed for home. :)

If you fancy a run out in that area after they open in april, give me a shout. Allan.

No problem. I think they re-open around mid April. Maybe wait for Benn to give us a conformation that
they are open as he lives close to them and then we can arrange a meet. :)

Hi gents, if you could accommodate another in the convoy I too would love to join you? I'm quite close to the area myself. Cheers, Mark
