Unfortunatly i can't compare the jimny axles with any other axle set, because the jimny axles don't do for off-road events

especialy the front one is very week and bents. Also the axleshafts are small in spline and weak.

And to catch you the HD axle shafts are just for weekend play car.

If you want to do challenge reces (trohpies - wild terrain) the axle swap is one way option.

Apart from the toyota LJ 70 , which are 3cm bigger in diameter and 2cm wider from jimny stock ones i can't think

anything else, that are better choise.

That's why you can get trusses for front a rear axle for reinforcement. Also, Zanfi makes HD axles of different strengths and prices. Same goes for Redacted that makes 26 splines HD shafts and CVs with 3 years warranty up to 33" tyres. Also RCV Performance are in the process of making shafts and CVs for the Jimny with 5 year warranty.

You comment on HD shafts only are for weekend play, well sorry. But you're completely wrong on that one. Standard shafts and CVS are of not particularly useful for offroad challenge use. But they worked okay for me, until they broke.


I would stick with Jimny or perhaps Samurai axles with uprated internals. Especially Samurai axles have proven themselves over many years of offroading. And HD shafts and CVs come with lifetime warranty from RCV up to 40" tyres.

I cleaned the axles and fitted wheels and tyres so i can work easy.

I fitted the rear patrol axle. It still looks like stock. Thats the goal i want to succed to.
I also took it for quick test drive with the stock front axle on and only forward drive.
I didn't expect to became so smooth at the rear. It became better than before ( stock). Probably because the new axles
are a bit heavier.
I managed to get it 1.5cm lower (from 10cm to 8.5cm) at the back by cutting a spur of the rear springs.
The same to be done also at front.
Shocks at rear now are Rancho RS9000XL, perfect. At front i might go with Gabriel gas shocks.
An OMP internal roll cage is on the road.

The front axle is in place. Some more testing and it's ready.

The driveshafts are in the workshop to make them sorter due too the patrol 3rd member is bigger and longer than the

stock jimny one.

Also willwood hydraulic handbreak is ready to go on.

After that testing to see if everything works fine and then my brothers car will follow.

Axles are on and tested. So more adjustments on the willwood hydraulic handbrake and on breaks generaly.

Also we fitted the omp internal roll cage. A friend of mine made some mods to the cage so now is as the J part from the

fia book regulation says.

A set of simoni racing reclining seats is also on the way. Harness is 5 point from sparco.

Though I doubt if this cage is FIA-compliant. AFAIK, it requires at lest the tube in the doors frame, at least one diagonal under the roof and I don't see what is in front on photos. But I can confirm that if you topple in FIA cage, it feels more like some Disneyland stuff

P.S. And what about 2.0L Engine, want to see that I like 1.8L that I have now, but more is laways better

The side cross bars are detachable as the rear diagonial also.

You must know that FIA regulation has a lot of issues.

Which one you follow to make your cage?

There are at least 10 ways to make a cage.

It depends on which type of motorsport you are competing and a lot other parameters.

For that kind of cage you are goign for rally raids.

Even a Disneyland cage properly prepared can save your life.
