As the title says, the car starts producing a weird "hot" smell when i push the engine over 4k rpms for more than a few seconds, i don't know what it could be, but i had the backbox removed since it's rusty and broken and i'm running it with only the cat for now (enjoying the sound).
What could be the cause and is it something bad?

Running without the back box is essentially pumping very hot exhaust gas straight into the side of the fuel tank and into the plastic of the bumper. They are not going to like this for very long. You need to route the exhaust properly.
