Hello, so I bought a new pair of diff for my 2016 jimny in order to change ratio. I supposedly got those from a 2010 and up jimny jb23.But something is bugging me and I couldn't manage to find it on google so what is this thing buldging from the side of the third-member?

PS: this is not the actual diff it is a picture from google that was clearer than the pics I have from my diff
PPS: Of course the front diff on my jimny don't have this that's why I'm asking.

It's called a "gear thrust bolt".

I assume it preloads part of the differential gearing

Looking at the parts manuals I have I can see them on all models up to around 2009. I don't have information after that date

thank you for your help the diffs in the picture are jdm specific that may be why.

If those manuals are digital you think you could share them they could really come in handy
