Ok this is my Silica key with a transponder, think it's the little blue square with A3 written on it in white. I can see a copper coil through the plastic. Tried it again with the battery disconnected for 30 mins and the +and - shorted out and no joy.

So hoping the battery in the key is dead. Going to see if I can find a way to see if the key is transmitting might be able to find someone in town tomorrow.

Heavy Duty Transfer Box Brackets, 2-inch Black Raptor lift kit, caster adjusters, Rust removed and stich welded new sections. Galvanised Chassis. Body,Engine, transmission swap. Anti Rollbar Roll / Sway Bar / DAVES ARB disconnect kit.Osram Night Breaker Head light mod and white 501 led side lights.

I didn't think it used the key battery.
As Lambert indicated the key fob battery is just for the remote locks, the immobilizer chip is RFid, so a coil near the ignition lock activates and reads the chip.
I could be wrong with this as I have never looked, but it's not going to hurt replacing the battery first.

I've got a question, lads. If I had a Jimny key and immobilizer unit that I knew worked could I.
Replace the immobilizer in my Jimny with the one that works and stick the key its matched to up near the ignition and turn the ignition with the existing key

I am way outside my comfort zone with the immobilizer circuit on the Jimny. I don't know what reads / logs the key ID, is it the ECU or Immobilizer, are they even separate units?
So I can't help with this in any detail unfortunately, but sure someone will be along.
However I do believe what you are suggesting in essence should work. So long as the device in charge can see the correct ID, the key turning the ignition lock then becomes irrelevant.

No you can't I am afraid

All three are matched. The ECU, transponder and key are programmed with each other.

If you change the immobiliser transponder you need to go through the programming sequence to link it to the ECU, this is typically a Suzuki specialist activity
