Gear shift extension broken was created by Gr2250
Wondering if this is a common issue?

The support on the bottom of the gear shift housing has sheared off.

The official name is a rod extension and the part number is 28280-82A20 from what I can tell.

For the moment I have zip tied it out of the way to so solve what I thought was a bad bearing noise, but whilst I am no engineer, I don't think that is structurally offering much support.

The workshop manual says the drive shaft needs to come out to change it. Is it possible to change it without removing the shaft?  Is it worth welding or is it a case of just ordering the replacement part?

Thanks

That's a new one on me. If you're skilled at welding and it won't melt anything that would be my first choice.
