Axle breather was created by Pixel-jimny
Hello! I've recently purchased my first jimny (2003) and I want to do some light off-roading with it and I'm looking to make some axle breathers and saw some people say they made them by just removing the plastic cap and putting a hose with a hose clamp on it. Is this a good idea?

A hose will work but they may slip off from time to time
Best option is to use a 1/8 bsp tap
Tap down the breather and screw in a pneumatic elbow 6mm bore size push fit

If you go the tap route, coat the tap with grease and clean it every 2 turns to remove swarf. Recoat with grease each time.

I prefer to go the rubber tube over the breather pipe method as then you wont have the problem of swarf. Use high quality fuel and oil hose and use a suitable glue - it will act as a lubricant and help to slide the hose into position - plus the hose clip. Make certain you allow sufficient length of hose and end it as high up as possible. Cap each hose with an inline fuel filter as used on motorbikes.
