I have had my version for about 25 years, got me out of countless problems.

As a matter of interest, how do you remove the bolts?

With either a hole saw or an angle grinder and a welder. Oh and much care.

Another tool to try would be a nut splitter. Clean off all the corrosion. If necessary cut a slot in the large washer that supports the mounting rubber. This will allow you to get the splitter full onto the nut. There is usually no need to go full depth on the nut, just enough to spread it a little. Mole grips or a small pipe wrench will then remove the nut. You may be lucky and find the thread covered by the nut to be in good enough condition to re-use but once the body is off I would use an angle grinder to form a taper on the corroded threads. This will make re-assembly easier.

Well, today I managed to get my chassis nuts off. All 6 remaining nuts were heated and hydro-shocked. They span off the threads quite easily after that. Looks like I will be able to use the same threads to reassemble the body again, which saves me a load of hassle. Hope to get the body split tomorrow and get some of the body repairs done at the weekend. Fingers crossed that the chassis is in good nick after the rust is needle-gunned off.

Just some pics of the separation. Lots of work to be done on the body, but the chassis looks not too bad so I think the needle gun will be required tomorrow.

Now that's what you call a body lift! :woohoo:

You'll need some big body lift blocks to go in there ;)

I did picture how it would look lifted up that high. At least it would be easier to maintain :D

Think I'll just stick with my modest two inches though. I've enough work to do without getting any mad ideas....
