Jimny 1999 ECU replacement was created by Owl
Have likely bad ECU, seeking advice as to replacement. This vehicle has no immobiliser so is it a case of sourcing the right ECU and plug in and go? Or is there other considerations to attend to? Owl.

I may try a local wrecker but its very risky and you have no idea what's coming if anything. The other option is to wreck the vehicle, engine recond 2019, manual gearbox reconditioned, heaps of new sensors, new tyres, JLX wheels.

Thanks Rainer Ill keep that in mind, good to know, Not sure how an ECU would go from overseas, there was a time here in Australia the earlier Jimnys came with no immobiliser, I have one that one, dont know how that fits with one matched to an immobiliser. Will be a No crank No start Id think.

You will definitely need an ECU without immobiliser.
Or an aftermarket ECU,
