Mike,
thanks for the hint re fan being spun by airflow.
I've managed to get a workshop manual ( ) and I've seen something there about a pressure switch.
Re compressor clutch, it's on, all the time, whether the aircon switch is illuminated or not! I'm going to pull the wires off at the compressor and see if it releases.
In the fuse box under the bonnet the middle relay (aircon) is missing! So how I'm getting chilled air is a mystery, and I'm talking really cold air, and after a fairly long time running the engine, the condenser fan started and engine revs increased, and the fan stayed on. In case you missed it, I had found the fan wiring disconnected at a junction near the fan. Beginning to suspect a bodge some where. I'm mainly interested in getting the compressor clutch released to get better mpg.

Always getting cold air is a symptom of the compressor clutch being stuck on. The pipes from it will ice up under the bonnet and maybe even the heater matrix inside, which then defrosts and rots the footwells (or at least thats what mine did)
The compressor clutch plate is held on by the allen key in the middle, but probably the clutch plate is rusted 'on' now. If you can get it off and clean up and re-shim it'll work again. Or can just fit a shorter belt to bypass it altogether instead (4pk850 i think). Note its easiest to unbolt the compressor from the engine and lift it up to work on.
shims (washers basically):
You can bench test the clutch by applying 12v+ to the only wiring connection on the compressor (body to negative). This will make the clutch pull in/out as voltage is applied/removed.
There are 2 relays in mine for AC, both located in a separate box of their own on the side of the battery fuse box, is that where yours are? One is fan and the other is compressor.

Yeah most likely over pressurised - probably because it's Quik Lube really annoyed with them. Not keen to drive it as there is lubricant sprayed all over the engine bay but it's going back on Wed.

The garage said they would need to order the high pressure a/c line from Suzuki as there aren't any aftermarket products. Not sure yet what this will cost. Anyone know if there is a cheaper way to get this part?
He said the regas is governed by a machine where they select the make and model of vehicle so not sure how it would over pressurise..
Thanks

High pressure a/c line is c£600 - garage got a quote from Suzuki and this includes a bit of labour. I'm at a loss here..

Second hand part?
Plenty on here have removed AC and a few break Jimnys, as do firms on eBay.
Can't believe it's a part that surfers from ware and tear, I suspect it was over pressured or suffered previous damage based on my attempt to charge the system. Impossible to prove post failure, so it's a fix it or remove it sort of situation, but it's not that bad with the window down.
I wonder if you could get a local hydraulic firm to make up a pipe? Don't know but maybe worth asking.

Thanks Scimike - I did take a quick look online but am finding it hard to find one. I will do some digging this week and ask around. As you say, difficult to prove fault when the garage say the machine refills based on the model of vehicle.. If I get the pipe I will take it to a specialist a/c guy
Cheers

Here you go
SUZUKI JIMNY AC AIR CON CONDITIONING PIPE 20052017 ebay.us/KWCzzm
They appear to have both high and low pressure pipes.
