Quite by accident I discovered today the SZ5 has a rather basic alarm fitted as standard. I attempted to unlock the car with the key to the Gen3, it didn't like it. Horn sounds (no siren) and winkers flash for what seems like an age but probably 20 seconds. I'll be more careful next time. Chris

I found that out after I has swapped the horn for an air horn, make the alarm very loud!

I locked my girlfriend in the car at a fuel station when I went to pay, second nature I guess I didn't event think about it. Surely enough the little 'toot toot toot' Jimny alarm started going off to her embarrassment :P

Help! Does anyone know how to permanently disable the Gen4 alarm? I'm guessing the wiring for it passes through the BCM so old fashioned wire cutting is probably out. Could there be a hidden 'switch' in the service menu? The thing goes off far too often in the small hours of the morning and is driving my family mad. Chris

Yes, if you are sure you want to do it and your insurer is happy!

Why would you want to disable the alarm?

What is triggering the false alarms? Mine has only ever gone off once and that is because I opened the door with the key and not the fob.

Martin, what is the location and position of the Key?
IN, OFF, ACCY, IGN?
or OUT?

Supplementary question: If the CC OFF Switch enables fast charging, what does a Long Press do? ;)

It doesnt mention the key position so I assume its irrelevant although I would suggest OFF and Key not in ignition might be a good start.

Long press of the AirCon off switch = finger hurts.

Try as I might, I can't get my alarm to go off whatever I do (short of smashing a window). Maybe it's never been enabled? Would it have been turned off for shipping?

A very large cat sits on the car roof most nights, somtimes I hear him howling and then the alarm goes off. If he ever learns to drive and then steals the car I might regret turning off the alarm. I appreciate some forum members will feel comforted by an alarm system (and some insurance companies too) but I have little faith in them and neither does my insurance. Chris
