No pics but if you lift the seat base
All bolts will become visible :)

Is a 17 plate a gen 3?

If so - lift the base and you'll find 4 bolts to remove.

For the backrest - unclip the plastic around the seat belt anchors and you'll find 4 bolts. Then drop the seats forward lift the carpet at the bottom corners to reveal 1 bolt on each. Remove all bolts and the seats will be free

Nice bike.

Just to add, the seat is fixed at the front left and right, using snap fastners. If yours is like mine they need quite a pull to unclip them, just think starting your bike by your arm and you are somewhere in the right pressure range.

Thanks for the info, yes it took a heaft pull to get the seat out. Bikes a 1976 Commando, took me 4 years and 4 grand to restore it.#Jake

A bit off topic, but a neighbour round the corner has a Commando, probably the same year as yours, very nice.

I have a 1977 Bonneville, I have had it since 1985 and completed a couple of rebuilds. It is off the road at the moment waiting it's third rebuild, I am saving it for a retirement project now.

You might recognise the Norton pea shooters.
