Carpet Protector ? was created by Velocette
For the moment I'm determined to keep my new(2016) Jimny a lot cleaner than the old one. An inch of straw/pigeon feathers and mud were apparently "not a good look". Any recommendations for front footwell protection out there please ? Ideally they should come up the sides a way.

I have a homemade set of mats in the front of Dreadnaught made from that super heavy duty ribbed industrial carpet stuff you find in office block lobbies. It's a single piece that fits from the front seat bolts upto the firewall and from each sill cover over the transmission tunnel. 9 years of farm use and no obvious signs of wearing.

Sorry forgot the biannual cheapo rubber mats that are regularly destroyed but do keep the worst of the wetting to a minimum.

That sounds like the answer. I do use the rubber mats but the muck seems to creep round the edges and sticks,,strangely,,like sh*t to a blanket. Its all those claggy fields round Forest Moor that are the worst.
Thanks !

I just know that the factory cotton felt scrap glued to the underside of the floor carpet is superb at absorbing any moisture and filth and then rotting from it, and by doing so corroding the floor metal sheets.

It is advisable to remove this scrap material from the carpet and glue closed cell foam in its place. That type of foam is waterproof and mold proof.

However, the removal of cotton felt is a job best suited to slaves or prisoners of war.
