So what tricks are people using to waterproof the under bonnet electrics? My Lada Niva had the coil in a tupperware box with lots of sealant and more around the plug caps. Ran with the bonnet under water for a good 5 minutes although the alternator was never the same again!
Doubt I'll do that with the Jim but is there anything else apart from a good splash of WD40?

You used to be able to get a spray on film that was like a slightly sticky conformal coating a bit like the epoxy coating that power tool circuit boards are covered 8n. Seem to think it was from holts.

Well designed coil cover means no water ever gets on the coils.
Mines been submerged periodically for 6 years and the starter and alternator are fine.....I don't go bogging though!

What he said!
Never done anything additional to mine, apart from axle. transfer box and gearbox breathers... under the bonnet is 'stock' and no issues...
