4wd AND 4low flashing? was created by Dancasey
Hey there

I have an electric switch version to engage 4wd and 4wdL

I've already bypassed the vacuums in the past by fitting manual hubs, and bridging together the two wires underneath the battery

All has worked fine and I've had 4wd in the past

Only today I tried engaging it, and I've had both the 4wd symbol AND the 4wd Low symbol flashing fast.

I've looked around but can't seem to find any diagnostics

Thanks!

You did have your foot fully on the clutch? Simplest thing first and all that.

I tried that! They both flash together at all times when the car is running, not just when I try and engage it

Check the wires into the transfer box are intact and connected as they're quite exposed and prone to being snagged on stuff.

I replaced that ball bearing switch on the transfer box only a few months ago :\

I've done a bit more investigation, and weirdly, when I first started the jimny, the 4wd high and low symbols weren't flashing, and I managed to engage it into 4hi, and 4low. Hurray!

If only it magically fixed itself like that. I switched back into 2 wheel drive, and the bloody symbols started flashing again!

I've taken the 20a fuse from underneath the steering wheel out and checked it worked, it's fine. And since the two wires are bridged together under the battery, surely the vacuum pipes are now redundant? I can't figure out why this is happening, tbh lol.

I also opened up the push button switches themself to check for anything naughty, but no luck.

Annoying!
