Im thinking of putting Slick 50 or some other similar product in the engine and gearbox.
Anybody got any thoughts good or bad? will it affect the transfer box 4wd stuff etc?
Apologies as im not particularly mechanically advanced and just want longevity from my Jimny!

I have always used it in the engines of my other cars and it has generally quietened the engine down and given a few more MPG as a bonus. just wondered if any of the other peeps had used it before?
Thanks again BJ

Slick 50 have been sued many times for causing the destruction of engines !
Even nasa and dupont (inventor of teflon) tested the stuff and concluded there is zero benefit of using a product such as slick 50.
The problem back then was that the slick 50 molecules were bigger than the holes in the oil filter, so clogged it up.

I put some in my Triumph Spitfire back in the 80s, and I'm sure that it caused the engine to wear out much faster. I found out much later that it undoubtedly blocked the oil filter and starved the bearings of oil.
If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

My normal diesel car is approching 300,000 miles yet to drive it you would think its only done 30,000. And thats with 10 years of very short journeys and general abuse... So why would you ever need an additive to "prolong" the vehicles life?
