Bonnet Catch/Latch was created by MikeB
Very new to Jimmy's love mine to bits opened the bonnet the day before MOT check oil water and the rest went to close the bonnet and now can get it to lock as the small spring at the bottom has snapped, therefore I can not close the bonnet meaning an MOT failure everything else fine, She is a 2007 hard top not sure if that makes a difference to the part any help or advice gratefully taken oh and I live in sunny North Wales

First try and push the cable handle back in at the glovebox end. It may just be a stiff cable.

Of course he means "under the steering column" on a 2007
The latch is "handed" for RHD and LHD cars. As the cable moved from the Glovebox to under the steering on the 2007 models I wonder (BUT I DO NOT KNOW FOR SURE) if the latch changes around as it has effectively moved sides in the car??
I have just sold our later model Jimny so cannot pop outside and look

That helps a lot.
So 2007 have a left hand cable entry and pre-2005 have a right hand cable entry (UK cars only!!!)
So you have to have a post-2005 part OR one from a LHD car.

Great many thanks for all that, the cable is not the problem it is a tiny spring underneath the large spring in the picture above, have got one on order now as could not find anything last night on the web and need it ASAP for the MOT as it is my main means of transport.
I will know next time time to come to the font of all knowledge regarding these fantastic little cars before I go on line with the rubbish you have to wade through . I drive an HGV all day so find it very small indeed. It is a left hand cable which runs smoothly in and out, even though the car is an 07 plate it has only done 17,000 miles and been serviced 4 times, the last MOT before I bought her had an advisory of 4 new tyres as the original ones were starting to perish.
Once again a great many thanks for you help I will be on here again very soon I am sure

Hi Daniel, Sorry to go of the subject but I notice that your car has a electric fan, is this a mod or did the later models have that as standard? cheers John
