Ok,I recently scoured the web for kingpin replacement help and came across this site!
After the invaluable help I got from a forum topic which included very helpfull photos I decided to repay the debt with one of my own.
Another helpful topic helped me replace the instrument panel "backlight" bulbs and I decided to show you a simple picture by picture walkthrough (as the aforementioned post had no pictures)

So...picture of the 2 screws to be removed (stubby phillips screwdriver as its a bit tight)

Then simply pull the panel towards you,the best grip for me was just above the clocks,it feels like it wont give but they are just pushfit clips and they do eventually give

The panel securing screws,2 on the left,2 on the right, left side shown.
A medium length philips is needed to reach,a magnetised one would be best to make sure you dont drop the screw into the wiring behind the steering column.

Then pull the panel towards you while twisting upwards as the connectors are at the top and need to be removed, the connectors have a locking grip (which is behind them on this picture) simply squeeze and pull down

Removed panel showing all bulbs (larger center 3 are illumination bulbs)(smaller outer bulbs are ignition, oil etc etc),
assembly is the reverse of removal, the cover required a little bit of squeezing to get past the steering wheel wihich is best if kept at 12 o'clock position.
And thats it!
Apolgies if this sound like the dummies guide to panel removal but its my first time at this.
Hope this helps someone.
Thank you!

Hmmmm. Any chance you could put LEDs in place of the normal bulbs? That way you could have funky colours, and more importantly they'd last a lot longer.

you could put LED's in place as long as you can get them in a standard fitment.. or you could remove and re-wire the connectors but its a lot of work

when I checked and replaced the bulbs they all seem to be the "push-in" type.
A bayonet type twist to remove the holder and a gentle pull removes the bulb from the holder.
the bulb has two wires coming out which are then folded either side of a glass fitment to ensure good contact, I dont see why you couldnt just push an LED in place (Do LED's run on 12v d.c.?)
