Front Wheel bearing retaining nut was created by Rev dennis
So today I foolishly thought changing a front wheel bearing would be straight forward. Using the correct tool I broke 3 ratchets and the tool itself to try and remove the retaining nut behind the small plate that is in front of the circlip.
it did not budge one bit.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

Did you undo the stake on the nut first?
They are really tight (220Nm), and with the stake still in as well it will be virtually impossible to shift it.
It could have been locktited by a previous owner, the easiest way to shift it will be to warm it up, you are replacing the bearing & seal anyway
You did well to snap a decent ratchet, I'm not that strong anymore. If you are working LandRover style, with a scaffold pole you should always use a cracker bar not a ratchet.
