sunroof or openable rear windows was created by jimmysteel
Hi all, have recently bought a Jimny 2005 for hunting/4wd purposes. wondering if anyone knows where to get a sunroof or openable windows fit out  at the rear to allow rear passengers to shoot from.

Is it really allowed to shoot from a vehicle during hunting?
Sounds like a monty python sketch or an American movie..

Hi,
I Can't recall I've seen any way to add opening rear windows to a Jimny.  I've not seen a DIY fit universal sun roof since the 80's, when I fitted one to my Escort. But everything's possible, so you may need to get creative and makes you own. How about a"hole in the roof" with tonneau cover, possible garage or DIY modification?
I am thinking a convertible Jimny may have been a better option, cheaper to swap?

Finally a use for a Jimny with a lift

Sorry...

Other than swapping for a cabrio model, the best option would a like a member from Holland on here did and fit a wabesco type roof from a twingo.
Someone with better IT skills than I should be able to find a link.

1 shooting from within a car? I will not comment , I might be banned.

Although I don't have any information to answer the initial question I do feel a little compelled to reply to the topic.

There is nothing I read in the question that jimmysteel asked that would lead me to believe that he is asking for guidance, or has plans, to do anything that is illegal. Personally, I see little difference, within the boundaries of the law, in hunting from a parked car rather than a hunting blind or stand. Joking comments excluded (Scimike), I don't understand why forum members don't leave comments that appear to be judgemental at the door.

I wouldn't have bothered replying except that when I joined this forum, people were polite to each other. Even if there was a disagreement, the reasons would be stated and handled with respect. I worry that, as more time passes, these discussions will devolve into the same kind of arguments and insults that are common elsewhere.

I started out with nothing & still have most of it left

I have twin sunroofs in my Jimny. Perfect for shooting! They are aftermarket Webasto Hollandia sunroofs that were put in when the car was a few years old. They tilt open about 3", or the glass can be completely removed.

Before we are in a position to criticise the ethics, shouldn't we find out where he/she lives!

Over to you Jimmysteel.

For those unfamiliar with rural affairs, it's very normal to shoot from a vehicle when hunting or carrying out vermin control. It's certainly not illegal in the UK. I'd be very surprised if it was illegal anywhere else.

Most cars already have rear windows and many have sunroofs, so refusing to advise on such things for "ethical" reasons is beyond daft.

In the summer when rabbits are getting out of control on the farm I have a double towbar step that I can bolt on. It allows me to use the roof bars as a steady and also partially obscures my profile. It's a good thing and so much cheaper than a sunroof.

A good few years ago I was going home up the A1 (two lanes) and heard an odd popping sound from a car in front. When I got closer, there was two cars side by side, with the windows down, the driver in the car in the outside lane was leaning across shooting a pistol at the car in the inside lane.

I just slowed down and let them get on with it. Neither seemed to get hurt and my turning was a couple of miles further on.

And that is why we have gun control. Not that it seems to affect anyone other than the law abiding minority.
