Hello everyone, I had a cambelt snap, and it has blown the engine. I have bought a 1.3 engine ,  but it is a m13a - and mine is a g13bb!!! DOH! can a 1.6 vitara engine go in (same code g16bb)?also a 1.3 wagon r engine (g13bb)? cheers ps anyone want a m13a engine - cheap, cheers Andy

How come it blown the motor g13bb is a none interference motor

when I say engine blown, the cylinder head went to agarage, so presume valves etc have been damaged, bottm end of engine has been open to eliments so rusty and probably unrepairable? my 1st jimny so do not know anything about them, cheers Andy

Thanks Neil, decided to get a full engine in, buying one from japparts, anyone had any good/bad experience with them?

Perhaps the first step is to find either a competent mechanic, or an experienced, mechanically inclined friend to assist & guide you - a G13BB engine with a broken cam belt would normally require at best a Saturday afternoon's work to fit a new belt - the head should not have to come off, and it's an aluminum engine so rust should not be an issue unless you had the sump off.

Swapping in a G16 from a Vitara or a Baleno is doable but will require some amount of rewiring, so if you're not up to that, it's probably best to locate another G13bb and drop that in.

The g13 (and M13) are non-interference engines so the valves should not be damaged from contact with the pistons etc
