Hi,

One morning i moved off in 1st gear climbing up a gentle slope, when i was at the top of the slope i clutch i accelerated a little to shift to second gear but in accelerating i started feeling the back of the vehicle shaking really back anf the vehicle was hesitant to move. I then clutched in and selected the reverse gear and heard a stange noise like something is breakimg evrrytime i select reverse an gentle raise my foot off the clutch.

the vehicle still have a heavy vibration in the back when trying to accelerate and the noise in the wheel when i select reverse.

Welcome to the forum. First off I would suggest you crawl under the car and check that the rear output shaft is not able to move horizontally or vertically, this would indicate worn or damaged universal joints. Next I would suggest trying to lift or otherwise move the transfer box as this will indicate if the aluminium locating brackets have cracked or broken. After that I would suggest trying to lift the output end of the main gearbox vertically as that will show if the rubber mount for that has failed. All these options are the simplest to rectify and if it's not these diagnosis becomes more difficult.

Check the rear axle too, they can break where they are welded next to the diff.  The crownwheel bolts sometimes come loose if the noise and play are within the axle.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

Yes if you know the size, and it is held in with circlips.

The one for the rear propshaft is 25 x 63.8 mm (the caps are 25mm dia, and it is 63.8 across the ends of the caps when fitted. QL219 or ql529 (with grease nipple) Blueprint ADK83901

There is also a 23mm diameter which may be the right one ADK 93902

I can tell you that you will likely buy a second hand prop for less than that joint costs- I paid about £25 10 years ago.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)
