Balancing wheels, where?!

Hi all,

I'm experiencing steering wheel wobble for a while now which is very annoying, I checked and investigated any possible causes and the only thing left to do is a proper wheel balancing .I visited two tire garages and they said that would not guarantee a proper job on this type of rims!!!
So ,my question, where i can do a proper balancing in London or around, i don't mind doing a few kilometres.

Cheers!

Just buy some balance beads (preferably ceramic ones) and never worry about wheel balancing again. No need for any wheel weights with them in ;-)

+1 on the beads they work
Only down side i have with the beads they can stick the valve open
If you like to air down for off roading I have had this happen twice
so going for weights this time round
ATS euro master and National tyres should have the ability to balance using finger plates
These bolt the wheels to the machine making them stud centric

This is why I recommend the ceramic ones. No.1 they are much bigger and cant get stuck in the valve, No.2 is they wear the tyre better, No.3 they are less prone to clumping up when wet than the plastic ones and No. 4 they just work proplerly. I think it is mostly because they are much heavier/bigger than the plastic ones that they work so well ;-)

Even after collecting these bits of tree stump in the tyre bead and adding a lot of off-balance weight there was no issues at motorway speeds:

Riccy, I assume your larger beads don’t go through the valve, if not how do you get them in? Are they easy to apply to alloy wheels?

I also guess you need replacement beads when you change tyres?

I spoke to a guy called Colin today at dyna beads
The one's Riccy has and i've just ordered are the large version
These have to be fitted by breaking the tyre bead and inserted
Colin said you can re use them as they don't wear down
Smaller version can be fitted through tyre valve with some sort of applicator
not the cheapest cost me £75 for 5 tyres worth

JackonlyJack beat me to it, yes dynabeads.co.uk is where to get them from and yes the bead needs to be broken to fit them. I gave them to the local tyre monkeys and, after some explaining, they were fitted and old weights removed in short order for a crisp £20 note.

Possibly tyre garages used to agricultural or HGV tyres will know about them, most otherwise are clueless.

At very low speeds you can sometimes hear them moving about in the tyre. Once on the move you wouldn't know they are there. They compensate for changes as the tyre wears (or get tree bark in it :-) )

How many grams did you put in each tyre?! Thank's
I ordered ones from tempered glass , same quality like the ceramic ones I read, if I had the link before that would be useful, I had to order them from the States !!!

Cheers

Not seen the glass ones before, presume they will do the same job.

on the dynabeads site there is a tyre chart with the weight to use. 215/75r15 is the smallest jimny size i can see and it says to use 5oz/148g, check the chart if your on bigger tyres (e.g. my 31" tyres need 6oz). It doesn't matter if your slightly over the recommended weight as it just settles the same.
