Strengthening of drive train was created by RCliss
Hi guys! I have a 2002 Jimny which is 4" lifted with 31" tyres, now I want to strengthen up the drive train, I've heard bits and bobs about using vvt diffs but require cutting my axles? Sj transfer box and props etc, does anyone have solid knowledge to guide me through doing this please, thank you!!

You won't have to cut anything to fit VVT diffs, they bolt straight in. They will give you 10% reduction. 31s are 20% bigger than standard, so ideally you want at least a 20% reduction
You can buy reduction gears that fit in your Jimny transfer case (jimny bits sells them) or replace it completely with an SJ transfer case. Options range from a standard SJ410 box to a custom built "rocklobster" with significantly lower low range gearing. The transfer case swap requires changing both front props, bending the gear stick, fabricating or buying different mounts and converting the manual speedo drive. I'm sure there are kits available for this.
