Gen 4 service cost was created by Dorsetdumpling
Just booked my Gen 4 for its second service with just 13K miles on the clock.

I nearly fell off my chair when told it would cost £411.

Are they having a laugh?!

I used to drive Mercedes and never paid anything like this for main dealer services.

what have others been paying?

Mine goes in this Friday for it's first service at Startins in Redditch. Cost is £199.00 incl. VAT and anti corrosion check.

My service light has come on at 3700 miles. Was planning on running the mileage a little closer to the 10k before I had the service done.

Any reading I had done on the first service on here had lead me to believe it cost about half what you've been quoted - shop around!

Dan.

Remember that you need an anti perforation check every year to maintain the warranty.

As an extra query, when I was with Mercedes, they were always very open about showing their basic service costs - does anyone know whether/where Suzuki does the same?

The Jimny is a relatively cheap vehicle to service in my opinion. Nothing complex to do, swapping fluids and plugs and you are about done.
With this in mind at that sort of price I would be asking them to provide a breakdown of costs and what they plan to do before you agree.
You can always get another price, remember you don't need to use a Suzuki dealer or OEM parts to maintain the Suzuki vehicle warranty, you simply need to prove it's been serviced, ie get the service book stamped.
You could pay separately for a body inspection if you are concerned about the anti perforation warranty, can't see why this would take longer than 1hr.
Remember your main warranty is with Suzuki UK, not the Suzuki dealer, so you don't need to keep them happy. Ask for a breakdown and if you are not happy vote with your feet

Yokohama Geolanders, Sony head unit, NAUTILUS Air Horn, DRL conversion, Rear cargo space, Elvis Bobblehead, transfer Guard, Indian hanging Elephant, Koni Heavy track dampers, Custom SS exhaust, Voodoo Doll, Adventure Rack with LED ight bar, vintage ERIBA caravan usually attached (yes it's slow)

Yes it's called the block exemption regulation, manufacturers used to be able to force you to have servicing by them only. It was an EU regulation so maybe it will be looked at again in this country, guess it depends how much lobbying there is from car industry...

When I took mine in for the second service at Levois Colchester they recommended not doing the listed valve clearance check as the mileage was low (11k) and postponing it to the next service.

Labour was £125+vat, parts £59+vat, so £220 total inc VAT.

Think their hourly labour rate is approx. £90 inc VAT, so unless the valve clearance check takes two hours labour or a bunch of extra parts, £411 does seem steep.

I think the service guy said that diff or transmission oil was to be changed, along with brake fluid.

(Mind you he did have ask if the Jimny was 4 wheel drive....)
