Did you install these yourself? Wondering if they're a simple bolt-in affair that a mechanical novice like me can do?

Thank you for looking, much appreciated My Escort experience was a Mk1 1600 Twin Cam, some rally fruit, but I preferred to navigate.
I can see, it's way too radical for just doing the shopping. I got lured in by the guy on the phone saying "Koni Dampers", he assumed stock!

Replacement shocks are "like for like" so no changes are being made. The car isn't any lower or higher if that makes sense and you could even claim the the originals failed and you replaced them. A full lift on the other hand would most likely have to be declared to the insurance company but happy to be corrected.
@gadget I didn't fit them myself no. A local garage charged 3 hours labour to do it.

lf you fit them to a standard Jimny, is there any chance that the springs could dislocate?
On the Land Rover it's the dampers that limit suspension travel.
Dampers are always a compromise. l've played with aftermarket ones on my Defender and "upgraded" usually means "stiffer" which can be good for fast road use.
The trade off is a harder ride on poor surfaces.
Adjustable dampers are the way to go, then you can alter them depending on what you are doing in the vehicle.
One thing. The Bilsteins mentioned above are listed for Gen 3
Are they suitable for the new model?

3 hours to just replace shocks is a complete rip-off. I can do the job myself in under an hour.

From the Jimnystyle site (where they're listed as for the Gen4):
"The shock absorbers are also longer than the OEM (standard) items, allowing for a ride height increase when used in conjunction with longer springs. Alternatively, you can use them in conjunction with the OEM (standard) springs and enjoy an improved ride without lifting the suspension."
