Looking at the picture of the Suzuki workshop manual it would appear to be a DVD ( CD-ROM ) which I can put into my computer and then read on my screen. Is it that simple? or will I require a degree in computer literacy - which I don't have - to operate the system. Also will I be able to print off it?

It says it is XML formatted. Most modern browsers are happy with XML although some just render it as text without formatting.

I would guess it has a suitable XML reader on the disc as dealers would not be happy with something that needed a degree in computing to read

Not quite a Haynes type, there is a higher level of assumed knowledge on the part of the user as for someone who has undergone a dealer training program, there's also an assumed access to specialist tools. They are however incredibly useful for very technical issues like wiring colours and paths and also for knowing order of operations and correct torque values etc

I have emailed Suzuki Customer Services and asked a few questions and subject to their answers I will buy a manual.

In the meantime, thanks for all your input.

I would bet that they reply ""Dealer only, trade part" not for sale to the public.

You would need to find a dealer willing to sell it against Suzuki policy.

Now I don't know if it's been changed but when I bought my Landcruiser it was a legal requirment that the car maker must supply a manual. If Suzuki have a CD ROM marked with a Suzuki part number then I am going to assume that it will be made available to the public.

I will let you know.

I thought it was mandatory to supply it to trade. Hence the vat number on the portal and is availability through those professional diagnostic systems that garages pay large subscriptions for.
