There have been reports of new Jimny fresh off the boat having the beginning of surface discoloration around seams. I wouldn't trust the Suzuki hype much further than I could throw a Jimny. If it's new and you either want good money for it in 3 years or you intend to keep it a good while then apply something to protect your investment.

One of the last 200ish of the gen3s, probably.

SEE HERE for my Dinatrol treatment. Included in the price is a free annual check up and touch up where needed. Let me know if the pictures don't show properly as Photobucket is a pain now.

Most Norwegian cars are treated when new upon arrival here. I have never seen any jimny here loose Its plates due to rust at the mot. Yet. Heard of only a couple.
I have stuck self adhesive bitumen sheets to the metal in the doors, rear quarters and elsewhere when I have had the chance. Doors have double layer inner and outer as well for the speakers. Great improvement at a low cost. Love the difference of the sound when you close the doors. :)

These two wiki articles are still in the making, but are already quite mature:

www.bigjimny.com/mediawiki/index.php?title=Rust_protection

www.bigjimny.com/mediawiki/index.php?tit...nd_vibration_damping

By the way, Suzuki talking about applied rust protection is like Facebook talking about applied privacy protection.

Jimnys are notorious as particularly poorly rust proofed from the factory. Even FIAT does it better.
