Jimny drop pitman arm

Hi guys,

I'm after a drop pitman arm for my jimny as i think i'm going to have a clearance issue between my sump (isuzu engine conversion) and drag link. I've scoured the internet and not found anything specifically for a Jimny. Raptor4x4 do one for an SJ (i believe the SJ has fewer splines) but i'm not getting anywhere in talking to them about the possibility of doing one suitable for a Jimny. I saw an old thread that suggested Jimnybits used to supply them but of course they don't any longer (i'm awaiting a reply from them). So basically i was hoping somebody would either have one they no longer need or could point me in the direction of a viable alternative. I have considered designing one and having it made but it'll inevitably end up costing £££.

I've got a vague memory that Rhino-Ray does them?

I had a Zanfi one, but they were rather expensive!

one day I will put a Jimny steering box in my SJ and then I would need a pitman arm with more drop than the jimny arm..

Would not consider making it myself even though I have acces to a wide range of machining capacity through my work.. coned splines...

I drew this up to straighten the draglink on mine......decided to make new axles instead.

Jimny steering box is quite weak - seen broken shafts a lot, better flatten knuckle arm. There's the cheapest way - use mersedes 124-126 arms. Left for right hand Jimny and vice versa.

Got in touch with rhino ray and he does a modified drop arm made from two standard arms welded together. He quoted £140ish so if all else fails i could go down this route.

I do not recommend anyone to try this "at home". Even if it is cast steel or wrought steel be very careful to use the correct heat treatment both before and after welding.
I wouldn't want to meet anyone on the road frantically turning the steering wheel while their car has a steady course for me.

Just as a precaution, this product may be good still..

Agreed, i'd never attempt to weld a component like this, or even be particularly happy with a welded one full stop.

If you have a qualified welder with a proper WPS welding is no problem, also for critical parts.

All the power plants including the nuclear ones are welded, of course with preheating and post weld heat treatment, proper filler, and also testing afterwards.

So this can be done properly, but definitely not just by a usual garage.

I suggest my variant. I took a bigger steering rod end from MMC Pajero and redrill knuckle hole from top to bottom. This way lifts up the knuckle end to 6 cm.
I did this because I made front radius arms over the axle.
