There is also a new emerging trend for another type of underbody anti-rust coating - a super hard super tough polyurethane type coatings, like U-pol Raptor and U-pol Gravitex.

These are originally designed to be used as bed liner coatings in pickup trucks.

I am not convinced about their long term suitability as an underbody coating. Their main advantage is being extremely resilient against impacts like stone chips, hitting rocks with the underbody etc. They are much more expensive per liter than other types of underbody coatings.

My concern is if they will crack after prolonged time as they are so hard, or just delaminate / peel of due so adhesion issues to factory underbody coatings. Does anyone have long term experience with Raptor or Gravitex as an underbody coating?

My transfer box guard is raptor coated and despite being the most vulnerable point of the car to getting dragged on the ground it is as good now as when Riccy applied it.
