Potential Jimny owner / Kayaks question

We recently moved to NZ and I’m looking to buy a new car that would to suit our future adventures, I’ve come across the Jimny and it looks like it could be perfect for us. However my main question is about attaching 2 kayaks on the roof. The kayaks are about 5.5m long and weight around 27 kg each. I’ve done a bit of research and have come across some site and a few posts on this forum, but It’s still not very clear.
Bear in mind, this is quite a new endeavour for me. I lived in London for 12 years, and didn’t have a car there, so I’m slowly getting back into the motorised world again.
What do you think, is it realistic? Or should I be looking for a bigger vehicle?
I don’t mind spending some money on good roof racks (which I’ll probably be asking for recommendations later if I go ahead with the Jimny! )
Thanks!

But a friend of mine has one or two kayaks on his Jimny no problem for short trips and if you are careful. It is never a racing car anyways.
use proper mounts of course and be aware of the mounts and cross bars weight.
edit: 30 kg? not 45 lambert?

Thanks so much for the quick reply!
Yes, it seems to be a bit of a can of worms!
I’ve found a lot of different information and that’s why I thought I would ask here!
Thanks for the info, it’s useful to know and what to consider.

That’s useful to know! Indeed, it wouldn’t be for very long of fast journeys!
On the Suzuki website they fo mention max 30kg using their own mounts. That’s why I was wondering if it would apply to other mounts.
Thanks.

Scimike wrote: The overhang and general size of said Kayaks is more the issue, you can put plenty on the roof of a GEN 3, even the soft top.

Haha. That looks fun, but I’m not sure it will suit our needs!
