Could the Gen 3 Jimny be a modern comparison?

I've just watched this via Bookface and couldn't help thinking that a modified Jimny or even a standard Jimny could be a modern comparison to the S3 Land Rover:

You could use a modified Jimny as a daily but it's less happy on a motorway, just like this S3.

Yes there are differences but I think you can relate them together.

I used one as a daily driver a few years back......and yes they do give smiles per mile just like the jimny.
To be honest the rate these are stolen and defenders i am surprised you still see so many on the road.
would i have another one possibly but they cost a fortune so if i had that sort off cash..........
I would buy a standard sj to use as my daily :)

I own a series 2 Land Rover (more or less a series 3) and yes the Jimny is very comparable. They both drive and perform very similar, of course the Jimny is more refined in every way, but the essence is the same. It's one of the reasons why I swapped a modern VW for an older Jimny as my daily mode of transportation, I wanted an affordable version of my Series 2 to use daily.
Both very high in the smiles per mile factor.

Yokohama Geolanders, Sony head unit, NAUTILUS Air Horn, DRL conversion, Rear cargo space, Elvis Bobblehead, transfer Guard, Indian hanging Elephant, Koni Heavy track dampers, Custom SS exhaust, Voodoo Doll, Adventure Rack with LED ight bar, vintage ERIBA caravan usually attached (yes it's slow)
