Anyone recommend a good dash cam

I have a Halfords front and rear, works a treat.

Old model Nextbase 612GW 4K is down to £109 from £200 at Halfords, got one myself the other day.

Make sure you use a MicroSD that is designed for continual writes, Sandisk High Endurance or similar. I've found that 'normal' fast cards which are great for photography can die after about 12 months in a dashcam.

NextBase seem to draw the majority of good reviews if you believe the ones on Amazon.

My wife's car has some unbranded thing but it works a treat, its got clear images even at night, reliable and never gives trouble - its hard-wired in (which is very easy to do and far neater than having cables draped all over the place).

My Jimny has a Garmin sat-nav with a built-in camera which I like, as I haven't got to have several gadgets stuck on to the windscreen.
The only thing about it is that if there is an incident I have to remember to hit the 'save' feature before it rolls over into the next day as the video footage gets overwritten

I have a cheap one motorola MDC150 it does the job
only bit i don't like is that in record/lock mode it only records for 5 minutes
But seen has my trial runs are under 5 min per stage it's fine for the job

I have it for my off road antics not told my insurer didn't need a discount
It's permanently bolted in and on when in motion
Just think track day record your laps on the cheap

Nah - I dont see them as a 'Big Brother' thing - more a weapon to use against skinflint insurers that won't/don't want to cough up in a claim. Also I regard them as a way of protecting my wife and myself from 'crash for cash' scumbags.

Sadly, I see them as a neccessary evil in the modern world

Yeah I've seen quite a few reports of crash for crash antics so that's one good point for it plus always helpful to help someone else out if needed, another plus is the off roading

Jack, do you meen it records in 5 minute blocks but continuously records?
