Fitting heavy duty petrol tank guard was created by Terrapin
Does anyone have any tips please? Does the petrol tank need support? I am thinking of fitting the Jimnybits one and I think it uses the petrol tank mount bolts. I asked vendor and their answer was vague. All advice welcome.

Lots and some more wd40
When it arrives you'll be able to see which bolts need to come out (all bolts should have captive nuts)
I didn't have to support mine just ran the fuel level down to red

As has been said above, run the tank as low as you dare, hold the guard up to it to see which bolts you need to undo and spray liberally with wd40 for days before this.

Then undo said bolts and with any luck the tank will stay up. Push the tank guard into place, hold it on a jack if too heavy for you. Pop the bolts back and you're done!

If the rank seems to be coming down with the bolts being undone, you'll just have to support its weight with one hand and slide the guard in place and take the weight over with that hand. Perhaps get the jack under it to take the weight off your arm. Another pair of hands could help but I've done it by myself before.
