Tyre pressure for road use - Gen4 rims with BFG AT 215x75Rx15 was created by johnnyev
Anybody running BF Goodrich 215x75xR15 tyres on the original Gen4 rims (5.5 inch)? I'm experimenting with what pressure to run my tyres on here in Oman (hot tarmac) and would welcome suggestions.
Also wondering if there's any fouling issue fitting 7" steel rims?
Thanks
John

With a bigger heavier constructed tyre like the bfg you don't really want any more than the factory 26psi. It is possible to work out the pressure for a given load from the maximum inflation information on the sidewall of the tyre in conjunction with the axle weights on the vin tag. But broadly speaking something like 23 or 24 psi will be about right. Does yours have the tpms system because it will need recalibratiing if you do run below factory pressure.

Do you know how to recalibrate? I'm running 215/75/15 and reckon the correct pressure unladen would be 25psi. However that is right on the edge for the threshold which I believe is 25psi. Especially when colder the warning light comes on. So currently running at 26psi however still in a cold morning the warning light is on. I would like to change the threshold if possible to 21. Can you?

In the dash display menu under the TPMS heading there is a comfort setting. You could try that.

Not personally but I believe can be done by a dealer. I'm sure someone who has a gen4 will be able to offer edification.

Question submitted to Suzuki technical support on resetting TPMS threshold and also multiple wheel set configurations swapping (summer/winter tyres).

Well done Martin, I fiddled about with the dash menu and nothing works there

I can confirm what CC Baxter says, I tried running my BFGs at 23 psi until I got fed up with the TPMS warning taking over the centre display.
No amount of trying the reset the TPMS settings through the dashboard menus would allow it to run at lower pressure. In essence there is a default minimum value that a user cannot reset but a dealer might be able to.
I look forward to Suzuki’s response to Martins query.

This is another difficulty with TPMS that leaves me singing the praises of emulators.
Once upon a time we were all taught to check our tyres daily, a (granted) small number of people will now see no need for a visual check instead relying on a dash light. I appreciate we are stuck with these devices but I don't find myself enamoured with them.

It's like the rest of the new era driver aids, they are not to help driving but to cover manufacturers and insurance companies from being sued.
