Going into limp mode? Power loss? was created by invincible
My jimny is cutting out when driving, feels like no power, then all of a sudden pulls again. Cut out this morning on way to site for longest time, busy a66 and no pull offs.I have a 1.6 that I desperately need to fit but think I need to find out the problem on this 1.3 before fitting as the fault will just follow? Im thinking electrical, perhaps a wire earthing? Guy in garage put snap on, diagnostic computer on it and it showed nothing? I need to get to a railway station later a prob wont make it. Maybe this engine is just about to die, any ideas on what electrical parts I could check, id be well grateful. Cheers in advance, liam

If it's not giving a code and is intermittent I would suggest coil packs and leads. Most other things will give you a code.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

Could be crankshaft position sensor, these don't show a code, but the engine usually stops for a few minutes until it cools down.

That's the ones. They sit under the black cover on the top of the motor. Dead easy to swap.

Sounds exactly like the issue I had and it was coil pack/leads that fixed it.
I really struggled to find leads that were a good fit after market. So in the end but the bullet and bought genuine Suzuki leads at circa £50! Coil pack much easier to find, bought one locally and used it to identify which actual pack was faulty.
Note I ended up with slightly wrong ones from amazon despite them saying would fit, needed vin number to get exactly what was needed. But as others have said it is an easy job to do.

If you have a set on the 1.6 it would be economical to swap those in first and confirm the fault is rectified and then when you swap the motor in get new ones for the 1.6.

Yes, in the end, tracked it down to a single faulty coil pack that was breaking down when hot. If you lived closer I would lend you a couple of spares that I now have so you could do the same!
