Chassis rust. was created by Mert1
Hi,
I'm new to the forum, but not to cars.
Fairly recently I bought my wife a Jimny as a run around, (she's small and has previously had 4x4s for the height.) The Jimny is in very good condition, low mileage,(45,000 miles), and perfect body. Full Mot etc. Turns out the chassis is a bit rusty. The ends of the front slam panel crash bar member are rotten.
I know you can buy them.
My question is has anyone had one replaced, will it be worth my while, or should I just get rid and buy another being more careful this time.
My Jimny in an 08, and was cheap!

Welcome to the forum. I would suggest that if the gearbox is in good condition and the rest of the car is clean then you could repair it and still be in positive equity. I would however be less inclined if other bit are showing signs of tin worm. It is hard to tell over the internet.
