Anyone have any information if Jimny is coming to USA in near future. I am so tired of having oversized 4x4 with terrible gas mileage and super expensive. There is no reliable, affordable alternative at present in USA.

will wait a another year or so than maybe get Subaru forester :S

Not living in the U.S. anymore, I haven't followed the stories much of the Jimny going there. Toyota is going to team with Suzuki on some projects (haven't followed that much either) and there was a rumor that they would possibly badge the Jimny as a Toyota and introduce it in the U.S. It would fill a niche that has been lost ever since the Samurai left the states. If you need something within a year, I really doubt that you would see anything by then.......assuming it ever comes.

I started out with nothing & still have most of it left

I assume privately importing it to the USA is out of the question?

The fake consumers union "Roll over, moose test set up" was the real death knell for US - Suzuki relations.

There is more to this obviously.

USA rules prevent import until it becomes "classic" after 25 years.

Expect a decent market in shipping old Gen3 to appear in 2023 :)

I know a couple in Florida ( gen3) that appear to be South American ones that have somehow made it in.

importing rules prevent me from bringing new models plus this would also defeat the purpose of saving money.

Isn't there a bit of a loophole that would allow you to import a 20 year old car so long as you keep the annual mileage below 2500 or use it as a show car?

Temeraire (2018 quasar grey automatic)
One of the last 200ish of the gen3s, probably.

25 years is for general use. There was a thing about it on either donut media or hoonigan. They were saying it allowed the import of one or other skylines earlier if you demonstrate that you are keeping it as a show car. They didn't go into much more detail.

Same for Norway, in 20 years (thats the norwegian tax limit) there could be a market for 2019 Gen4's here if petrol cars are still allowed then..
35% of new cars sold is EV now in Norway.

If you move to a country permanently you are often allowed to bring your personal items, or if you have a diplomatic passport..

Strangely US pickups have a small market here in Norway but the Gen4 Jimny has too much emissions to get sold here..

Norway 2005 Jimny M16A VVT, 235 BFG MT, 2" Trailmaster, ARB rear lck, 17%/87% high/low gears.
