In Australia everyone uses Waeco or Engel fridges. For the rare occasions when I need to keep stuff cool for a few days I use a simpler ice box. The polystyrene ones they use for medicines also work great.

Another brand is isotherm. They use Danfoss compressors.
Im currently looking for a fridge for my boat.. The 3 way camper van ones are just to power hungry as they consume around 6 amps compared to about 3 amps for marine units.
Isotherm, Dometic/waeco are the two brands most the chandlery's prefer to retail.
They have a hard life on a boat having to contend with extremes of heat and cold and moisture..and been shaken around violently while operating at some crazy angles..
I'm contemplating a fridge kit, you just have to build an insulated box to put it in.

Well well well. I read it earlier that Isotherm makes the IndelB boxes. Well, looking at Isotherm now, they are identical. Do anybody else agree?

Isotherm is part of indel/webasto .. Isotherm is cheaper than waeco/dometic.
A lot of the brand names for the marine market have extortionate markups..
Eberspacher is one, selling its heater only for £899, yet the Chinese can make the same heater for £135 and the £135 Chinese heater is brilliant as well as coming with enough bits to fit one in a car or van !
