I had a big problem with cheap cats with my old Clio that failed within a year.

One possibility is the delivery of a sensitive part mixed with the competence of the person fitting it who may not do it all the time.

I don't know where you live but I eventually used Cats2u who have a fitting centre next to their distribution centre in North London. (It's a Suzuki garage as well as I remember.)

They supplied and fitted, and tested, a £60 cat for just over £100 as I remember.

Not any connection other than I had a positive experience with them myself.

Thanks for all the replies.
I was going for the Eurocarpart cat, but a local Exhaust place quoted me £50 more than the Euro one fitted by them with a 2 year warranty. As I am getting old, its very cold outside and my MOT is tomorrow I got them to fit it today and will just be £50 worse off. Having said that if I factor in the two fitting kits at £20 then its only £30 more.
Looks Ok and fits all the mounts nice, so only time will tell.k

So now most of the exhaust is new (replaced silencer 1 year ago), just the centre section is OEM. When this lot rots next time I am going stainless.

Yokohama Geolanders, Sony head unit, NAUTILUS Air Horn, DRL conversion, Rear cargo space, Elvis Bobblehead, transfer Guard, Indian hanging Elephant, Koni Heavy track dampers, Custom SS exhaust, Voodoo Doll, Adventure Rack with LED ight bar, vintage ERIBA caravan usually attached (yes it's slow)

IT PASSED :) :) :)

So thats my first year with our Jimny without any issues at all, love this car.

Just for the original topic the car pass emissions with no problem at all, everything perfect, its almost spitting flowers out the back its so clean, so no problem with the aftermarket second CAT.

Two advisories:-
Removable tow bar not fitted so unable to test electrics ---- thats just nuts, they could have tested them, but because the towbar "ball" is not on they did not, figure that out :silly:
Slight play in offside wheel bearing
thats one for the summer, Ill rebuild my king pin at then same time just for the experience. Seen Martins " how to " video so fancy a go myself.

Now I just need it to snow like they keep saying it will so I can go out and enjoy the push button 4x4 feature which is still working fine, lucky me.

I take it you have 13 pin electrics for the tow bar as 7 pin aren't a testable item. Good news about the pass though.

No its a 7 pin?
They did not test it as the tow bar was not fitted, ie the removable swan neck was removed, everything else including 7 pin electrics still on the car. So its a nonsense advisory which ever way you look at it.

As you say dont care, its a pass.

I was lucky enough to get one from Eurocarparts for less than £70 when they had one of their discounts applied. Bought it and kept it “in stock” for when either of ours fail completely. Both have been welded here, it’s an easy weld, double skinned I think.

On the 8th Day God made the LandRover -
On the 9th day he swapped it for a Jimny.
