Lots of countries are allowed to display consumer prices before tax is added, the UK has to display with VAT included.

The SA prices I've seen include VAT (at 15%). This puts the GLX at just over R300 000. Not sure what the old model cost in SA.

Regarding the UK/SA price comparison, it's not so much the gross prices we should be comparing, but instead the percentage difference between the two models in SA, and then applying that percentage difference to the old UK model.

My guess is the UK will only get what they're calling the GLX in SA.

Looks like we will get a base spec in the UK, which is what I was really hoping for. Reviews are certainly kinder than they were for the current generation.

The article says the UK will get SZ4 and SZ5 spec vehicles. Unless Suzuki UK have changed their designations then they would probably be mid and high spec. I'm sure I've seen SZ3 mentioned as a base specification on other models.

Hi there,I'm new to this forum! Being utterly without experience of 4x4 in general and Jimny, in particular, I have still become obsessed with this car and the idea of indulging in off-roading as a hobby. Being from the north of Sweden I was happy to first read that the new Jimny would have front wheel drive in 2wd mode. But as I have understood now that information was false and it will actually indeed also be rear wheel drive. That the car should behave fantastically driving in 4wd-h on roads completely covered by snow/ice I understand. But since driving in 4wd constantly would kill the car.... do any of you have an idea how Jimnys behave on slippery roads in the city and on highways etc.

Thanks Colin. The review seems to suggest that the SZ4 will have steel wheels and no touchscreen, but they might well be wrong.

On another note, here is the link to the Euro NCAP report (pdf too big):

Jesus, that AutoTrader review was probably the most tedious and ill-informed piece of video content I've ever had to sit through.

Although possibly less annoying than the What Car review, which had me grinding my teeth as soon as the reviewer appeared on screen. :D

Here is a bit of towing info gleamed from this article:

"It weighs 2,502 pounds in top model form, and the towing capacity is 2,866 pounds." when converted it equates to 1300kgs
