Unnecessary bling alert at South Africa Jimny launch. I hope the horrible silver bits are just demonstrating accessories and not stuff they intend to bolt onto top spec models. Suzuki UK - don't go getting any ideas. Functional, not bling!

From the global page and 360 view, the front and side gray plastic is extra.

Yes, thankfully it's straight out of the accessory brochure. Interesting that SA are having their launch already, as a RHD market.

The South African prices have also been announced, would be nice to see what the percentage comparison is with the old model's pricing

It does seem to undercut the old model which previously started at R 266,900, whereas 'indicative' pricing for the new one starts at R265,000 - about £13,500. A GLX Manual works out at just over £15k.

UK pricing for other Suzuki models seems to be about £2k higher than in South Africa. As an example, the base Vitara in SA comes in at R278900 which at today's exchange rate is £13959, but the UK price for the same model is £15999.

I reckon UK pricing will be £15k at the bottom end, to £18k for the highest spec with an auto box, ouch!

Does the SA price include tax?

Lots of countries are allowed to display consumer prices before tax is added, the UK has to display with VAT included.

Suzuki GB has been talking up the new tech in comms to us journos, so we've been expecting a price uplift. I've always figured/hoped a GLX manual would be around £15k with an auto perhaps around £17k. They came in for some stick when Swift Sport prices were announced, subsequently dropping them for a time by £1,500, so one hopes they won't go crazy with Jimny in the face of the high level of interest.

It's not a market I'm familiar with, so it's entirely possible it doesn't. Plus there's a 10% EU tariff we have to apply.

Anyway, the media event is late November with pricing expected to be announced then.

Norwegian new car taxes adds up to around £15k for a new Jimny..
(depending on emissions.)
So total price for a new Jimny in Norway will most likely be well above £30k :)

Norway 2005 Jimny M16A VVT, 235 BFG MT, 2" Trailmaster, ARB rear lck, 17%/87% high/low gears.

Everything is expensive in Norway? :).

Normal Jimny was around 23k€ in Finland. Not information about the new model yet.

Will be interested to see what the max roof load is like on the new model. As they've ditched the roof rails with plastic ends, hopefully proper metal rails will allow carrying more than 30kg on a rack.

The rails listed in the accessory brochure state a 30kg max load.
