Boot floor rot - how bad is this? was created by fowleronline
For a 16 year old car with 60K miles on it, I'm pretty pleased with my recent acquisition.
I know headlight and boot floors are known trouble spots and I looked before I bought, and it didn't look bad from what I could see.
I've just taken everything out of the back to have a proper look, and clearly there is one spot that is almost a hole, but overall I'm pleased with what I found - or didn't find!
But I am not an expert, not by a very long way. So is it worth getting remedial work done now? what will it entail? Is any of it looking like an MOT danger spot - I have till next March for that.
Advice as always, appreciated.
Cheer
Martin

If it were mine i would just patch that adhock.if it were in for a professional repair it may be as cheap in labour to put a whole floor in. Either way the sooner you are able to get it remedied the better.

That doesn't look too bad, I've recently bought a 53 plate with what appeared to be a small hole in the floor, It ended up to be not much smaller than the patch I've replaced it with!

Thanks.
I'm afraid it won't be me welding it - I'd probably make the hole larger before setting the whole car on fire! But I do know a guy who specialises in this sort of work (I have to, I have an 2006 Transit too!!).: ohmy:
What are your thoughts on the other bits, up at the top of the picture (top right as you look at the third pic) where there carpet is, and bottom left (of the second pic) where it looks like someone has tried a bit of rust treatment in the past - is it likely to have crept out of sight under the trim, and is it structural at all?
Thanks
