I am thinking about lifting my Jimny up I decided to go with simple spring spacers and shock extenders, I am a bit worried about the lower bolts shearing as I have read a few posts that this is quite common, so how many of you guys that have removed those bolts and had them break? also is the bolt hole blind? or does it go all the way through just need to know as I will spray penetrating oil from the other side.

It's a blind hole. I soaked mine overnight in plusgas and they came undone without any fuss. Mines a 2000 model rust bucket.
It's possible to drill the hole all the way through and fit a longer bolt and nut.

It's blind, which stops them rusting in as much. I've never had one sheer, even before castor correction on a 3" lift which causes the shocks to put pressure on the bolts. Many others have though!

The fix to prevent it is to remove the bolt and drill through so you can use a bolt and nylon nut or two. You need a proper quality drill bit though!

Ok that's one question answered no point in spraying penetrating oil in that end, I know it's all luck if it breaks and not really a problem only the hassle of drilling the bolt out, it's just I can not park my Jimny close to the house so it means long extension leads either that or my cordless drill which I doubt has the muscle.

Mines an 03 and not in bad nick, the bolts do look rusty but then they would do, now I know not to spray penetrating oil in from the other side I will just concentrate on the side the shock connects and soak it.
