urgent help regarding ride /comfort was created by woody woodpecker
Hi All
hoping you can help with a ride quality issue , since damaging my neck in a motorsport accident I am finding the ride in my standard 02 jimny totally unbearable . I have tried all different tyre pressures but that does not seem to improve ride so gone back to recommended pressure . I am open to any suggestions as I don't really want to sell the jimny but if the ride on a and b roads cant be improved I will not have any choice. PLEASE help.
thanks for your time chris :(

What tyres are fitted? Road tyres might be a good idea if that fits your needs.

As I am not into offroading as such are they specific road or offroad tyres or a supposedly dual purpose tyre? If it is not the tyres then perhaps a softer damper might be the answer!

There is a good range of aftermarket shocks available for the Jimny.
Bilstein, Koni, Old Man Emu, Tough Dog, Dobinsons, Terrain Tamer and Trail Master all makes great shocks specifically made for the Jimny. Bilstein, Koni and Trail Master are the most expensive and probably also the best. Koni and Bilstein only available in standard length.

Tough Dog and OME are the cheapest at around £60-70 each I believe :)

Or perhaps just get new standard shocks :)

To echo what TomDK has said, I've seen a lot of posts on this and other forums about how the Trailmaster 2" sport kit has transformed their Jimny. Apparently it's like night and day, not just from a comfort point of view but a road-holding and stability one too. Will be my next modification, and Martin (of this website) sells them for a good price.

we get asked this question quite often, (at least 2-3 times every month)

at the moment to make the ride softer it comes down so softer shocks.

the 2 brands i know that work are trailmaster comfort, and AVO adjustable

trailmaster sport are a little stiffer than the originals

Do you change all 4 shocks, or just the rear?

2012 Jimny Black. Totally standard (except for rear seat removal mod).

Apologies, you're correct there, meant to say comfort

High profile muds seem to help(195 80) and loose the anti roll bar as it seems to make the ride less crashy,
