Thats what the law says, I would prefer to take my chances with a bit of cable than a dirty great steel bumper with a huge winch in the middle 
Wonder how they get away with steel wire fences on the motorway, i wouldnt like to hit one of them when on my motorbike. Its sort of the same thing but in reverse if you think about it. They call them safety catch cables .

Got a road fund reminder today. Arghhhhhhhhhh. At least is is fairly cheap.
